The unofficial theme for my afterschool class on Thursdays is clean because it’s Yoga day. Everything has to be refreshingly clean, tidy, and in order—before class and after class. That ensures a sanitary environment for the students and myself.
Prior to class, I make certain the floors are swept and mopped, the yoga mats are clean and stacked neatly, several sprightly fragrances are available (to combat the specter of sweaty socks and undershirts), and baby wipes are close by in case the children need to quickly freshen up.
After Savasana, we have fresh-squeezed juice or a smoothie from our juice bar and a wholesome snack. The lights are lowered, soft music is played with wither a Bossa nova or nature-inspired feel, and the children get ready to go home for the day.
