Here are a few outtakes from the yoga class I teach in my Afterschool sessions. I gave the children free time and they drilled each other on some basic poses and practiced some poses from their yoga books. So far, they’ve learned Easy pose, Table pose, Child’s pose, Corpse pose, and Cat/Cow pose (which always makes them laugh—can you guess why?). Did you notice how they were helping each other? I like that. They take out the mats and put them back when the session is over. My yoga class is light-hearted. These children are full of energy so I have to make the class appeal to their needs. We “meow” and “moo” during Cat/Cow pose, we place books on our backs when we do Table pose, we do anything fun to get the job done.
